Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. Gory Japanese Anime Perfection.

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. One of my biggest inspirations creatively and one of the most violent horror animations in japan. This is an adaptation of the independent PC horror game with the first game released in 1996. Corpse Party: Tortured Souls is a four episode series packed with dark imagery and absolutely brutal scenes abound. It is no holds barred gory mayhem in short... It rips ass!!!

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls follows a tight nit group of high school students and their teacher. As a symbol of their friendship, they decide to do a ritual known as "Sachiko Forever After". Upon completing the ritual, they are all transported to the cursed Heavenly Host Elementary School. This was a school plagued by tragedy. Murders, missing children etc. Within the halls of this cursed school are the hostile spirits of the children as well as others who have been transported here and been consumed by madness. And also a mysterious little girl in a red dress. Faced with either death or the viral violent insanity that the curse causes, things are looking very bleak. The group of friends must try to solve the mystery of the Heavenly Host Elementary School and try to appease the spirits of the Tortured Souls, or face a bleak fate.

As I said earlier, this little series is a huge inspiration to me creatively speaking. I absolutely love this series and I have always meant to play the games. The imagery is just perfect, the gore is unrelenting and gorgeous, the ghosts manage to walk the line perfectly between sympathetic and terrifying, and the story is so damn twisted and interesting. I have had this series digitally for a few years now but it has become a goal to buy it on dvd as well. This series is pretty easy to find online so if you wish to join in the madness with me, go on and check it out. You will NOT be disappointed.
