If after reading those taglines you aren`t instantly ready to give up your kidneys to see this film, we cannot possibly be friends. Pieces is a Spanish/American horror film from 1982/1983. It is esentially what you get if you mix an American Slasher with an Italian Giallo and threw them both into a Grindhouse film. If that sounds great to you... You are correct! If someone were to ask me if there is a film that perfectly sums up Grindhouse/Exploitation sleaze and underground horror, without hesitation I would throw a copy of Pieces into their hands.

Pieces tells the macabre tale of a cloaked madman slaughtering woman around a University Campus. Stealing what he believes as their best body parts so he can Frankenstein them together into a perfect woman. Meanwhile the police team up with the school stud in hopes to unmask this depraved butcher before he can collect more pieces for his woman puzzle.

Pieces is a blast to watch. It is one of the most bonkers Slashers I have ever seen. Plenty of awesome gore, plenty of Grindhouse sleaze to go around and even a Kung-Fu scene for good measure. Though Pieces is often considered a Slasher, I honestly got more of a Giallo vibe. From the cloak, hat and black gloves, the killer has the classic look of a badass Giallo killer. The way the kills are handled are essentially the best of both Slasher and Giallo worlds. Beautiful at times but also filthy and gruesome. All in all this is one badass Grindhouse classic and one of my favorite Slashers of all time. If you love some 80s Slashers with gallons of blood and exploitation watch Pieces yesterday!
