This is a film I had heard about in hushed tones over the years. All I really heard was that it was dark and disturbing, and of course me being super into the "Disturbing" niche I just had to check it out. I must say that I was both surprised and satisfied.
Deadgirl is a very dark and unique coming of age story. I instantly fell in love with its simple but grim premise. The film follows two young teenage boys, one of whom as a seemingly obsessive crush on a childhood friend. One day the boys head over to a local abandoned Insane Asylum to toss back some drinks and let loose a bit. Feeling daring they investigate the basement of the Asylum where they stumble upon a naked, seemingly dead woman. However, they are shocked to find that not only is she miraculously still alive, but she cannot die and has an infectious, deadly bite. While one of the boys is horrified and wants to help her. The other begins obsessively keeping her down there as a sex slave. As the days go by more and more curious young men are brought down for a taste of the naked corpse that will not die. Will our protagonist be able to save "Deadgirl"? or will he join the others in succumbing to his carnal needs.

As I said earlier this film was quite a pleasant surprise. Don`t get me wrong, I expected to love it. But I did not expect it to be this legitimately well done and unique. This is a surprisingly emotionally driven film as our main man is going through quite a tough conflict and a truly messed up situation. Not to mention the fact that it is shot like a normal coming of age teen film which makes it stand apart even more in my opinion. I loved Deadgirl and you should too. If you are a newbie to this whole extreme and disturbing horror niche that I love with all my heart then Deadgirl would be a pretty good place to start.
