Inner Depravity 1 and 2

Inner Depravity 1 and 2 are a pair of short films created by professional French Canadian horror make up artist Remy Couture. In which he also stars as a terrifying masked killer. INNERDEPRAVITY.com was also a website at one point featuring a visual diary from the killer. Esentially, Inner Depravity as a whole, website and films are a showcase of Remy Couture`s excellent gore make up skills. Sadly the website is no longer operational as a German viewer who could not read the warning that the site was a work of fiction as it was written in English. This Resulted in Couture being arrested and taken to court for obscenity. He was of course found not guilty but this is still a particularly frustrating case.

Anyhow, lets get back to the films. The first film begins with a clean up crew investigating a brutal crime scene as an eerie vocalization plays over top. We then see the killer played by Remy Couture himself shooting up some meth. The music then comes shrieking to life as the rest of the film is a brutal compilation of the killer murdering and maiming women and committing necrophilia upon one of them. It is a grueling and amazingly well done watch which for gore hounds like myself is an absolute treat to behold.

Inner Depravity 2 is more of what you would expect but a little different in other ways. For instance, Inner Depravity 2 takes place entirely in a basement and our killer appears to have himself and accomplice this time. The beginning of Inner Depravity 2 is particularly effective. It starts with the camera slowly moving about showing us a morbid photo collection on the wall of many victims, some of which we saw in the first film. As this happens a truly spine chilling coir vocalizes over this grizzly scene. We then see a woman laying in front of a mirror with her hands cuffed above her. Our terrifying killer then walks into frame, masks up and our ears are again assaulted as he produces a hacksaw and gnaws off her hand and begins to violate her with it. Before feeding the severed limb to his accomplice who joins him for the next kill. From here on it is gore and necrophilia as it was before and it is once again thoroughly enjoyable if this is your sort of thing.

I greatly enjoy these films and they have provided much inspiration for the more grizzly of my own stories. I hope to make a film in this vein one day myself. Remy Couture`s gore effects are unnervingly realistic at times and his masked character ends up being a truly scary presence. Both films are only around 10 minutes long and are free to watch on Youtube. If you think you have the guts to go check em out please do.
